[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Gwangju, South Korea – May 23, 2025 – Kia Corporation announced that production at its Gwangju Autoland Plant 3 will resume on May 26, following a temporary suspension imposed after a fatal workplace accident.

The decision to lift the suspension was made by the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Office’s Review Committee for Work Stoppage on May 23.

Plant 3, located in Kia's Gwangju Autoland complex, produces approximately 400 units of 1-ton trucks daily. The plant had halted operations on May 19 after a worker in his 40s was fatally injured on May 16 when he became trapped in mechanical equipment.

In response to the incident, authorities issued a partial work stoppage order affecting specific production processes. Following the implementation of additional safety measures and inspections, the plant has now been cleared to resume operations.

Kia stated it remains committed to strengthening on-site safety protocols to prevent similar accidents in the future.
