[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Fox News reported on September 3rd that Boeing could face a strike involving 32,000 employees this month if the company and the International Machinists Union (IAM) fail to reach an agreement. The current contract between Boeing and IAM is set to expire on September 12th.

In mid-July, IAM members approved a strike with a 99.9% vote, signaling their readiness to strike if their demands are not met. However, strike approval votes are a common part of the negotiation process and do not guarantee that a strike will occur.

IAM Representative John Holden stated, "The union is fighting to gain respect from the company, and we need reasonable wage increases and improvements to the retirement system."

Boeing responded to Fox Business by expressing confidence in reaching an agreement, stating, "We are optimistic that we can reach a deal considering the realities of the company's business situation and the needs of our employees."
