Hanwha Ocean Signs MOU with WB Group at MSPO 2024 for Submarine Business Cooperation

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Hanwha Ocean announced on the 4th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Poland's leading defense group, WB Group, at the MSPO 2024 defense exhibition in Kielce, Poland, which began on September 3rd (local time).

The MOU aims to strengthen collaboration between the two companies for the Orca (ORKA) submarine construction project, a key part of the Polish government's naval modernization program.

Under the agreement, Hanwha Ocean and WB Group will develop a comprehensive Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) package, with a goal to succeed in this project through effective localization. The two companies also plan to expand their cooperation in the naval sector in the future.

During the event, Hanwha Ocean presented details on the Orca project, including the phased localization plan through the submarine MRO package. Additionally, the domestic equipment company Kolon Spaceworks, which is also attending the exhibition, introduced its localization plans for composite materials.
