[Alpha Biz = Reporters Park Nam-sook and Kim Ji-sun] Samsung Electronics is making continuous efforts to supply NVIDIA, but there are rumors circulating that some products didn't pass inspection.

According to the coverage of AlphaBiz on the 13th, Samsung Electronics recently conducted tests on its 8-layer HBM3E products for NVIDIA's supply and received notification that further verification is needed.

A source familiar with the supply issues between Samsung Electronics and NVIDIA explained, "It is true that Samsung's HBM received a defective judgment, but it is because SK Hynix standards were applied."

In other words, TSMC, the NVIDIA GPU manufacturer, conducted the inspection of Samsung's HBM, and during this process, deliberately applied the completely different SK Hynix standards to induce a defective judgment.

The source added, "If the inspection method for Samsung's HBM changes, there should be no problem with NVIDIA's supply," and stated, "Currently, Samsung Semiconductor's 8-layer HBM3E product line is continuing its march to sell out, operating at full capacity."

It is known that Samsung Electronics is already supplying its HBM to customers such as AMD and Intel who require AI memory.

Regarding NVIDIA's inspection, Samsung Electronics stated, "We do not comment on customers' supply matters."
