[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] The Seoul Metropolitan Police Chief, Jo Gi-ho, confirmed on the 17th that they have identified over 1,000 doctors involved in receiving illegal rebates from Korean Drug. He stated that these rebates included receiving cash directly, electronic appliances, and entertainment such as golf outings.

Regarding the amount of rebates, Jo mentioned that they ranged from millions to tens of millions of Korean Won. He noted that while there are legal limits on permissible amounts under certain conditions, the scope of the investigation encompasses cases where the rebates exceeded these limits.

Earlier, on April 29th, police conducted a search and seizure at the headquarters of Korean Drug in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Currently, the police have booked 8 individuals associated with Korean Drug and 14 doctors for investigation.

The possibility of expanding this rebate investigation to other pharmaceutical companies has also been raised.
