[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced on the 17th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SE CHARZ to enhance aviation maintenance capabilities on June 14 at the Tashkent City Congress Hall in Uzbekistan.

SE CHARZ is a state-owned company under the Uzbekistan Defense Industry Agency, specializing in the maintenance and modernization of various aircraft, including Mi-8, Mi-17, Mi-24 helicopters, and Su-25, Yak-52, An-2 airplanes.

The MOU signing ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Under the agreement, both parties will engage in mutual exchange and research cooperation to enhance aviation maintenance capabilities in Uzbekistan, explore potential markets for aircraft demand, and collaborate in related fields. They plan to establish a working group to detail the areas and projects of cooperation.

This agreement is expected to establish an aviation maintenance hub in Central Asia, laying the groundwork for strategic partnerships in the region and potentially leading to the introduction of Korean-made aircraft into the Central Asian market.
