[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Online sales in the United States exceeded 33.2 trillion KRW ($24.1 billion) during Amazon’s Prime Day mega-sale, according to data released on July 12 by Adobe Analytics, a leading e-commerce research firm.

The sales period, held from July 8 to 11, marked a 30.3% increase from the same period last year, outpacing Adobe’s initial forecast of 28.4% growth.

This year, Amazon doubled the usual two-day Prime Day event to a four-day shopping spree, offering deep discounts across categories such as apparel, electronics, home goods, and more. The extended promotional window helped drive unprecedented sales volume.

Other major U.S. retailers—including Walmart, Target, and Best Buy—also launched competing large-scale discount events during the same period, intensifying the e-commerce surge.

Reuters noted that this wave of promotions comes amid heightened trade tensions, fueled by tariff policies under the Trump administration, making deep discounts particularly appealing to inflation-conscious consumers.
