[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] The South Korean government announced on the 29th that it will conduct ongoing inspections of unfair practices, such as preferential treatment and bundling, by large online platforms to foster a fair competitive environment.

Yoon In-dae, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, made this statement during the 3rd meeting of the "Small and Medium Business Express" platform.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, who attended the meeting, suggested measures for creating a fair competitive environment in the online platform market, supporting international expansion, and preventing recurrence of issues similar to the TMON and WEMAKEPRICE incidents.

Vice Minister Yoon mentioned that the government is actively supporting the global expansion of startups and is working on regulatory improvements to prevent the recurrence of issues like those experienced by TMON and WEMAKEPRICE.
