[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] LG Electronics said on the 24th during a conference call following the release of its Q3 2024 results, "Due to geopolitical issues this year, shipping rates for major carriers increased during the renegotiation of regional contracts in the second half, which slightly affected our profitability compared to last year in the third quarter. Fortunately, the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) has been falling since July, and we are negotiating adjustments with carriers charging high rates."

The company added, "Since this adjustment pertains to existing contracts in the second half, the reduction in rates is not expected to be significant. However, we anticipate the impact of increased logistics costs on profitability will lessen somewhat in the fourth quarter."
