[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Hanwha Ocean has announced the receipt of an order for six large container ships powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual fuel from a European shipowner, amounting to approximately 1.6932 trillion won (about $1.3 billion).

This order represents 22.9% of the company's total revenue from the previous year. It marks Hanwha Ocean's first container ship order in 2 years and 9 months, following a similar order for six container ships from European shipowners in January 2022, valued at approximately 1.3188 trillion won.

The six LNG dual fuel large container ships, each with a capacity of 15,000 TEU, will be constructed at Hanwha Ocean's facility in Geoje and are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2028.
