[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] LG Innotek announced on the 23rd that it recorded an operating profit of 130.4 billion won for the third quarter of this year, marking a 28.9% decrease compared to the same period last year.

During the same period, sales increased by 19.3%, reaching 5.6851 trillion won.

A company representative stated, "The expansion of high-value camera module supply due to new model mass production by our clients, along with increased sales of semiconductor substrates and automotive communication modules, contributed to revenue growth."

However, they explained that the decline in operating profit was influenced by several factors, including a decrease in the won-dollar exchange rate, weak demand in front-end industries such as electric vehicles and displays, and intensified competition in the optical business.

The optical solutions segment achieved sales of 4.8369 trillion won, a 24% increase year-on-year, driven by the mass production of high-value camera modules for mobile devices following client new model launches.

The substrate materials segment recorded sales of 370.3 billion won, up 13% from the previous year. While supply of semiconductor substrates increased, display-related products such as chip-on-film (COF) experienced weakness due to sluggish demand in front-end industries like TVs.

Sales in the automotive parts segment declined by 9% year-on-year to 477.9 billion won, reflecting decreased sales performance amid a slowdown in the electric vehicle market.
