Hotel Shilla Reports Operating Loss of 2.5 Billion Won in Q1 2025

[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Hotel Shilla, a listed company on the KOSPI, reported an operating loss of 2.5 billion won for the first quarter of 2025, according to a filing on April 25.


This marks a shift from the previous year’s operating profit of 12.1 billion won during the same period.


The company posted sales of 971.8 billion won, a 0.9% decrease compared to the same period last year. Net losses amounted to 6.2 billion won, a sharp increase from the 1.6 billion won loss in the first quarter of 2024.


However, the operating loss showed improvement compared to the previous quarter, where the company faced an operating loss of 27.9 billion won.


The duty-free division saw a 0.4% decrease in revenue, amounting to 827.1 billion won. While sales at domestic city stores fell by 21%, airport store sales grew by 18.7%. The operating loss in this segment was 5 billion won, marking a reversal from the profit reported in the previous year.


The hotel and leisure division’s revenue decreased by 3.6% year-on-year to 144.7 billion won, with operating profit falling by 59.7% to 2.5 billion won.
