[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] Kakao Bank announced that Indonesia's digital bank 'PT Super Bank Indonesia', the first overseas investment destination, was officially launched on the 19th.
In September last year, Kakao Bank invested a 10% stake in Superbank as part of its partnership with Grab for Southeast Asian business cooperation. Kakao Bank decided to collaborate with Superbank in the process of UI (user interface) and UX (user experience) innovation and product and service planning.
Superbank is an Indonesian digital bank in which not only Southeast Asia's largest super app, Grab, but also M-Tech and Singapore Telecom (Sintel), the country's largest media companies, participate as major shareholders. With the participation of partners leading various industrial ecosystems, Superbank is considered to have high potential and success potential as a digital bank in the Indonesian market.
Superbank has increased convenience and financial accessibility to Grab customers by utilizing the ecosystem of Grab, a major shareholder. Not only can you open a Superbank account directly through the Grab app, but it also allows you to connect Superbank accounts as a means of paying for Grab's various services such as Grab Food and Grab Bike.
Kakao Bank will participate in the process of planning and developing products and services in the future to enhance its understanding of the Southeast Asian market and accumulate business experience to strengthen its global capabilities. It also plans to continue discussions with Grab to create synergy.
