[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] Shinsegae Group's SSG Pay and Smile Pay failed to be sold to Toss.

Shinsegae said on the 23rd that it will suspend negotiations on the sale of Viva Republica, which runs Toss, for a year.

Shinsegae said, "We tried to sell it for the purpose of creating synergy in the business, but we agreed not to transfer it." SSG Pay is a simple payment service launched by Shinsegae in 2015, and Smile Pay is a payment service of Gmarket, which the group acquired in 2021.

Shinsegae Group's business efficiency work is also expected to be put on hold.
