[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced the results of an investigation stating that the odor issue in Chamisul, a soju product manufactured by Hite Jinro, was not due to problems in the manufacturing process.

On the 17th, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced the investigation results, stating, "There is little possibility that other substances entered the manufacturing process causing the diesel odor in Chamisul Fresh." It further clarified, "No diesel components were detected in the product contents, only on the outer surface."

However, it was analyzed that due to the structural difficulty in achieving complete sealing between the soju cap and bottle material, external diesel components may have vaporized due to temperature changes during distribution and storage processes caused by pressure differences. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety confirmed that other soju products produced on the same date as the reported ones were collected and inspected for safety, and all met the standard specifications (appearance, ethanol, methanol, aldehyde). Additionally, it advised against storing soju products with volatile substances such as petroleum.
