[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Orion's "Turtle chips" is gaining popularity among young people in their 10s and 20s in the United States. Orion has decided to consider establishing a U.S. production plant if Turtle chips growth continues.

According to Orion on the 24th, Turtle chips entered the US distribution channel Five Below 1598 stores and 52 miniso stores of household goods discount stores last month. It is the first domestic food company to enter the Five Below.

Five Below is a leading U.S. low-cost discount store chain that focuses on products priced at less than $ 5, and is called the "Teens' Playground."

Orion has also started supplying Turtle chips to snack bars for employees of global corporate headquarters such as Google and Netflix this year. It will also be sold in Costco, Mexico in the first half of this year.

Orion expects Turtle chips to generate 20 billion won in sales in North America this year as its sales expand. Turtle chips sales exported to the United States last year amounted to 12 billion won, up 200 times in five years from 60 million won in 2017.

Orion is also considering setting up a local production plant if annual sales of a single Turtle chips item in the U.S. exceed 40 billion won.
