[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] According to industry sources on the 7th, the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has initiated on-site investigations into Coupang, Naver, and Kurly over suspicions that they did not adequately explain the process of canceling subscriptions.

The FTC sent investigators to Coupang, Naver, and Kurly to secure their terms and conditions documents.

This on-site investigation follows allegations that Coupang, Naver, and Kurly made it difficult for users to cancel their subscriptions by not properly explaining the process.

The FTC prohibits deceptive practices such as obstructing subscription withdrawals or contract terminations under the Electronic Commerce Act.

Previously, the FTC had been investigating allegations of failure to notify mid-subscription cancellations in online video streaming services (OTT) since March, but it recently expanded its scope to include e-commerce platforms such as Coupang and Naver.
