[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] NVIDIA, a U.S. semiconductor design company, will invest $200 million (about 270 billion won) in Indonesia to build an AI (Artificial Intelligence) center, the Indonesian Minister of Communication said.

Indonesian Communication Minister Budi Arie Setiadi announced that NVIDIA and Indonesian telecommunications company Indosat will invest 270 billion won by the end of this year to build an AI center, according to CNN Indonesia on the 5th (local time). The AI center consists of human resource development and communication infrastructure.

NVIDIA's expansion into Indonesia is seen as an attempt to expand its influence in Southeast Asia amid growing demand for generative AI. NVIDIA previously discussed AI investment with Singapore.
