[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] SPC Group's ice cream brand, Baskin-Robbins, released a product named "Lucky Vicky" inspired by the popular phrase used by IVE member Jang Won-young. However, they halted sales due to unauthorized usage controversy.

The issue arose with the new product "Lucky Vicky Mochi," launched on the 8th of November targeting the exam season. The product consisted of four heart-shaped rice cakes with salted milk ice cream arranged in a four-leaf clover shape, symbolizing good luck for students, according to the company.

However, the use of "Lucky Vicky" sparked a debate over unauthorized usage. The phrase combines "Lucky" and Jang Won-young's English name "Vicky" and had become a meme associated with her positive outlook. The term went viral as "Isn't it Lucky Vicky?", capturing her optimistic attitude.

Criticism emerged over Baskin-Robbins' use of the popular phrase incorporating Jang Won-young's name without an official endorsement deal or prior consultation. Following the backlash, the product was pulled from the sales site on the 9th.

Despite the sales suspension, online criticism remains. Many accuse SPC of trying to dismiss the controversy without issuing a statement or apology. As of the 11th, SPC responded to inquiries from Kookmin Ilbo by saying they would provide a statement later.
