[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] The Financial Supervisory Service to Conduct On-Site Inspections of Naver Pay and Toss Amid KakaoPay Data Breach Investigation.

The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) is expanding its investigation into data breaches involving KakaoPay by initiating on-site inspections of Naver Pay and Toss. The inspections, set to begin on the 26th, will examine whether these companies provided personal data to foreign entities without customer consent.

Previously, the FSS conducted written inspections of these companies up to the 23rd. The on-site inspections will focus on verifying information that was difficult to confirm through written records alone, such as data provision details and customer consent.

In April 2018, the FSS discovered that KakaoPay had shared 54.2 billion pieces of personal credit information, including 40.45 million Kakao account IDs, phone numbers, emails, KakaoPay registration details, and transaction records, with Alipay.
