[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Kumho Engineering & Construction announced on the 2nd that it has won a contract for the sewage treatment facility project in Takhmao City, Cambodia.
The project, funded by the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) provided by the Export-Import Bank of Korea, has a total contract value of KRW 115.7 billion. Kumho E&C holds a 65% stake in the project, which is expected to generate approximately KRW 75.2 billion in revenue for the company.
The project involves the construction of a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 12,000 tons per day, a main pumping station, six relay pumping stations, 125.3 kilometers of sewage pipelines, and 5.4 kilometers of stormwater pipelines in Takhmao City, located in Kandal Province, southeastern Cambodia. The project aims to install drainage facilities serving approximately 10,000 households.
The modern sewage treatment facility is expected to significantly improve local residents' living conditions by preventing groundwater and river pollution and reducing the risk of waterborne diseases.
Kumho E&C first entered the Cambodian market in 2008 with the "Krang Ponley Dam" project. Since then, the company has successfully completed several projects, including the "Kampot Bypass Road," "Siem Reap Sewage Treatment Plant," "National Road No. 56," and "Mongkol Borei Dam." Currently, Kumho E&C is also working on the "Banteay Meanchey Irrigation Facility" and the "Climate-Resilient Rural Infrastructure Development Project."
