[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Ourhome issued a formal apology following a serious workplace accident at one of its manufacturing facilities, in which an employee sustained critical injuries after being caught in equipment.
Kim Tae-won, CEO of Hanwha Ourhome, said in a statement on June 8, “As CEO, I offer my deepest apologies, regardless of the circumstances, for an incident that should never have occurred in the workplace.” He added, “I sincerely bow my head in apology to the injured employee and their family.”
The company stated it will make every effort to support the employee’s treatment and recovery, providing all necessary assistance. Operations at the affected production line have been fully suspended, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway, led by local authorities and government agencies.
Kim also emphasized that the company will fully cooperate with all investigative procedures and implement comprehensive preventive measures. “We will conduct urgent safety inspections across all business sites and establish measures to prevent any recurrence,” he said.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:53 p.m. on June 8 at Hanwha Ourhome’s Yongin 2 plant located in Namsa-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. A male worker in his 50s was reportedly caught by the neck in a conveyor belt.
According to police and fire authorities, the worker was in cardiac arrest when emergency responders arrived at the scene. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. While he has not yet regained consciousness, his breathing has reportedly been restored.
