[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Labor-management negotiations at Samsung Biologics are showing signs of a prolonged stalemate, with both sides failing to narrow differences over wages and key demands.
According to industry sources on June 8, the company and its labor union have continued negotiations since late May. The union recently submitted a revised proposal, warning it would prepare for a “long-term battle” if no progress is made.
The main sticking point is wages. The union is demanding a 14.3% increase in base pay, while management has proposed 6.2%. Disagreements also extend to performance-based incentives, with the union seeking 20% of operating profit for bonuses versus the company’s 10% proposal.
Additional union demands—such as greater involvement in management decisions—are also complicating negotiations.
Tensions have escalated further as both sides filed legal complaints against each other, deepening the conflict.
With little movement following the revised proposal, talks are expected to drag on, raising the possibility of further union action, including another strike.
